OUR PEOPLE

Dr. Thomas Henriksen
Founder & Director
Thomas has a Doctorate in Architectural Engineering from TU Delft, the oldest and largest technical university in the Netherlands, and an institution that performs world-class research by combining science, engineering, and design in a socially responsible manner.
Throughout his career, Thomas has had a passion for sustainable design, actively engaging in technical research and industry groups to ensure the knowledge capture, best practices, and the future-thinking in engineering design is incorporated into his field of work.
With over 20 years specialised experience in structural and facade engineering across a range of energy efficient buildings and infrastructure projects worldwide, Thomas began his engineering career with B&K/Arup in 2002 where he worked on key architectural buildings with 3XN and HLA in his home city, Copenhagen. It was during this initial introduction to sustainable design and structural material behaviour that inspired Thomas to continue to achieve a first-class knowledge and expertise in facade engineering and Passivhaus design.
Thomas is proud to have worked with world-class engineering firms over the years to include Arup, Seele, Waagner-Biro, and latterly Mott MacDonald where he was the Global Facade Director. During his career he has worked on iconic projects such as Harpa, Reykjavik Concert Hall designed by Henning Larsen Architects and Studio Olafur Eliasson, Your Rainbow Panorama which is situated on the roof of Aarhus Art Museum in Denmark, and designed by Olafur Eliasson, Grand Museum of Egypt designed by Heneghan Peng and The Louvre Museum in Abu Dhabi, designed By Jean Nouvel, and the cross rail canopy at Paddington station designed by Weston Williamson, and the Maersk Panum Tower in Copenhagen designed by CF Moller.
In 2019 Dr Thomas Henriksen founded Henriksen Studio with a desire to build a company that would focus on working at the forefront of sustainable building design, helping create a roadmap for a carbon neutral society in 2050. Since its inception, Thomas has built an exceptional team, each of whom are committed to bringing imagination and determination to every project, ensuring the most appropriate and achievable design solution is presented to clients for new and existing buildings.
